Sakura Thinks. A Lot.

Sakura tugged out her water bottle from her back and sat down on the hill over looking her teammates. She was near enough to be in Shizune's comfort zone, and far enough away for her to be alone in her thoughts.

She wasn't really quite sure what to do. She knew why she was sent on this mission--ever since the Sound attacks at the Chuunin exams, every shinobi had to take every mission they could, as to appear strong to the other nations. Konoha had lost so many shinobi that it had been awhile since she had the opportunity--in all reality the obligation, to go on a mission with her real team. In fact, the Neji-Sasuke party had been lucky to occur at all, and with all the genin, well almost all the genin there.

Thinking back to the party, Sakura kicked herself. Sure, Lee had been released from the hospital for months and was making amazingly rapid progress in his physical therapy, but he shouldn't have been straining himself like that! The childish part of her wanted it to blame it on Ino, for dedicating the song to them in the first place, but she knew better. Sakura sighed. It had been years since her and Ino had been able to really talk, but they were getting closer to doing so until the mountain of missions had been dumped on them. I never see much of anyone anymore, she mused to herself. Only lately, really...

Sasuke had never showed up, either. Not entirely that surprising, he really didn't know about it and if he had known it was a party, he would've found a mission in the most distant cornor of the world faster than Sakura could recite the Ninja Code of Law. So long as he wasn't trying to kill Naruto and vice-versa she was fine with almost anything those two did. As if to back that thought up, the memory still clean and frighteningly clear in her mind of Sasuke's chidori and Naruto's raesengan pointed so very lethally at eatch other...if Kakashi hadn't been there at the last second, Sakura would've been long dead. But she didn't want to think about that. Not at all...

The past months had been going slightly better for Konoha. Anyone hurt from the Chuunin exams had been long released from the hospital, and Naruto and Sasuke were acting fairly civil towards eatchother. Still, she felt a bit tense whenever the three were together.

She took another gulp of her water. It would be so nice to be in Konoha again, however brief due to her next mission. Her apprenticeship with Tsunade pretty much guaranteed as far as she knew a stay in Konoha for a while, as well as lots and lots of studying and training. Her hands strayed to her short hair. Yes, she would go back to Konoha and continue on her goal of becoming a noteworthy and proud kunoichi.

Carefully screwing the cap back on, Sakura rose. This mission still confused her. She had only the most basic medic training, and the Akatsuki....the Akatsuki was more than anything she could handle at the moment. It wasn't like a training mission; they hadn't been training constantly, she hadn't really learned anything...but maybe she was thinking too hard. Either way, the higher rank of the mission would look good on her card.

Glancing over at her comrades, she nearly jumped out of her skin as four people appeared in a puff of smoke behind her. "EHH? Sensei? Tsunade-sama? What are you doing here?..." Sakura exclaimed, very surprised. She eyed the other two behind them. Other people?...

Tsunade jumped a little at the exclaimation from Sakura.

"Well that technique worked a little better than I expected. Good job Kiiro-kun." She patted the former Hokage on the shoulder affectionately.

"Ah, there you are Sakura! And Shizune too!"
Shizune was stuttering in disbelief...

"And there's Daaku, but where has Tetsuya gone to?"
Immediately Tsunade became business-like, taking control of the situation, as a Hokage should.

"I was worried about all of you, so I enlisted some help to deal with this Akatsuki problem we seem to have." She pointed behind her. "I found Kakashi and Kiiro with Obito and Rin. Come on out Rin, you don't have to hide behind me. Come out and meet Sakura. She is my apprentice."

(tags Rin and Sakura) :P
"Hi." Sakura waved to Rin. "Haruno Sakura. Nice to meet you." Under slightly awkward circumstances. Rin smiled weakly and waved back as she peeked out from behind the other three. "Kawahara Rin, likewise." Rin stepped up and shook Sakura's hand as was more customary for her. The two then turned to Tsunade and had a remarkably similar 'err, what now?' look about them. Sakura, who's curiosity was getting the best of her, was the first to speak.

"Ah, I take it Naruto and Sasuke-kun are on missions?" And far, far away from eatch other hopefully?... Eyeing Kakashi's tired look, she quickly mustered, "But that's not important to this mission now, is it?" She said this to no one in particular, half reminding herself. Rather blatantly she shoved the water bottle back into her bag. "An Akatsuki member approached us earlier, and he didn't seem to have any real intent for us. Tetsuya-san went with him...I think Daaku-san's been keeping an eye on her but I'm not sure...he could tell you better than me."

Sakura surveyed the scene down the hill, and watched as Shizune and Daaku made their way up the hill.
"Ah, so I need to speak to Daaku then since Tetsuya's went after Itachi..."

The Hokage scratched her chin, "So what exactly is going on here Daaku? Sakura says you've been watching over Tetsuya since she left with an Akatsuki member. Who was it? And where did they go?"

*tags Daaku*
Daaku looked atthe Hokage, a small feeling of guilt bubbling up in his chest. Since the fall, he hadn't been able to reestablish contact with his crow, so he had no idea what was happening.

"Well, at last check, Daikachiki was conversing with Itachi. I could sense that Kisame was there, as well...and there was one other Akatsuki present, but I couldn't tell who...."

Daaku looked at his feet, and scuffed his sandaled feet on the ground.

"When I tried to alert Sakura and Shizune, I learned that they'd fallen asleep, and in my "attempt" to wake them up, my jutsu was broken. I have not been able to reestablish contact with it to see what's happenening..."

Daaku rolled up his sleeve, preparing to summon another crow.

"I think I'd like to try again..."

((TAG's Tsunade-sama))
"Alright Daaku. I'll leave you to that since you know what you are doing. I need to go and check on Shizune, since she seems a little ragged."

Tsunade walked down the incline and stood next to her assistant. "So how have you been Shizune? Been teaching Sakura anything interesting?"

Sakura continued to watch the large group before her. The very sight of this many Jounins and even the Hokage in one place made her nervous--this was the real deal. She bit her lip; she was the youngest and the least experienced nin there, and if anyone had a chance of dying on this mission, it was her.

The cotton-candy haired kunoichi brushed the thought away quickly; as a ninja it was her duty and her destiny to put her life on the line, and this didn't change anything. Brushing back a few stray strands of hair hanging in her face, she began to walk towards Kakashi.

Glancing at Obito for a moment, her gaze settled on the masked Jounin. "I don't suppose we might be able to reschedule my genjutsu training after this mission, Kakashi-sensei?" Sakura asked sharply, her hands firmly pressed on her hips. "As we did miss our last set meeting." Sakura glanced back to Obito with a stubborn glared set on her face. Just what was HE staring at? "Yes, it IS natural. Any more questions?" Sakura sighed, relaxing her glare and pointing to her hair. It was generally one of those questions that people had to ask before they were able to manage saying anything else to her.

"It's a long story as to why I'm here, so let's just leave it at a bit of deception on Sarutobi's part." she heard the man talking to Shizune say. Sakura, who hadn't really examined who he was or what he looked like, turned her body slightly as to get a better look. Same hair is Naruto...*snort* Kiiro's bright cloak caught her eye. That...WHAT?! Impossible! Absolutely impossible.

Sakura, as top of her class in the Academy, knew Konoha's history backwards, forwards, diagonally and crooked, as well with it's leaders. And that was definitely the Yondaime Hokage's cloak. She snapped back to Obito and Kakashi with bulging eyes, her hand wildly pointing behind her.

"Y-Y-Yo-Yondaime?!" she stuttered, looking at them for some form of explanation.

((tags anyone in this thread who wants to reply, really :3))
Kiiro had to smirk. Tsunade's new apprentice was just as smart as every other apprentice she'd taken. Sarutobi had seen to it that he, the Yondaime Hokage, had been officially reported dead after the Kyuubi's attack on Konoha. He could see the dots connecting in the young kunoichi's head, so he turned to face her.

"Yes, I am the Yondaime Hokage. It's a very long story as to why I'm here, and an even longer story as to why I look like Naruto, as I'm sure you've noticed.....Let's just leave it at this; I was not killed after the battle with the Kyuubi, and I've returned to Konoha after a long absence, to assist in the battle against the Akatsuki. Does that satisfy your neverending curiosity?"

Kiiro smiled at the young kunoichi, and waited for her brain to break.

"By the way, I never got your name. I'm Uzumaki Kiiro."
A jolt of shock went through her body, then she slowly turned away from the group and walked a few soft steps away. Her hands folded together behind her back, she began to recite:

"Yondaime Hokage, born January 25. Also known as 'The Yellow Flash of Konoha'. Taught by the legendary sannin Jiraiya, many say he was the greatest ninja ever to come out of Konoha. Best known jutsu being rasengan; known all around for his amazing and deadly speed. Thirteen years ago, he sealed away the kyuubi into an infant and with that sacrificed his life to complete the seal." Sakura turned back around with a firm look on her face. "Needless to say, deceased. And Naruto has no relatives that I've ever seen." She placed her hands on her hips firmly. Although she wouldn't ever speak this way to a hokage, this was just too bizzarre to be true. There was no way that the Fourth was standing right next to her, and there was no way he was in any way related to Naruto. She was sure of it.

"Haruno Sakura is my name."

((tags Kiiro!))
Kiiro smiled again. Her description sounded as if it had come straight out of a textbook. He hadn't expected a reaction like what she'd given him, so he took out one of his "special" kunai, and handed it to her.

"You want proof of my identity? Throw the kunai I just gave you as far as you can, while keeping it in our line of sight. You know an awful lot about me, so you know full well about my combat jutsu, Hiraishin no Jutsu. I created it as a way of getting myself around a battlefield quickly, using either special tags I drew, or these kunai I had made up. Go ahead...."

Kiiro smiled again, and formed a hand seal.
Sakura looked down at the oddly-shaped kunai suspiciously, and then back up to Kiiro in much of the same manner. "Okay..."

Sakura turned and threw it at far tree a few hundred yards away. Surely enough, there instantly was Kiiro, who gave her a wave and threw the kunai back to her. Thinking that maybe that was just a fluke--hell, he might've just used some fancy substitution jutsu; she threw it again, harder, at an even farther tree. The same wave and return of the kunai continued. She tried it two more times, just to be safe [one wouldn't want to have a fake ex-hokage running around, would they?], until she was satisfied. As Kiiro appeared next to her, she turned to him.

"Um...I don't know how else to say this, but how?...are you..you know.." she waved with her hands at him with small desparate motions. "Alive?" Sakura managed. And is he really related to Naruto?..
After repeatedly demonstrating his Hiraishin no Jutsu to Sakura, Kiiro smiled again.

"It's a little tough to wrap your head around, isn't it? When I performed the Shiki Fūin that sealed the Kyuubi within Naruto, the jutsu didn't kill me, as what was told to everyone in the village. Instead, the debt owed to the Death God was shared by Naruto and myself, as is symbolized by this..."

Kiiro unzips his flak jacket, and rolls up the undershirt, exposing his abdomen...

"So as a result, both Naruto and myself were severly weakened, but we survived. After I recovered my strength, I was advised by Sandaime to leave the Fire Country, and go undercover. With the amount of Kinjtsu I know, we didn't want to risk the village being attacked so soon after defeating the Kyuubi. It was a difficult decision, but it was one I knew I had to make. I've travelled all over the world, learning new techniques, and gathering information as it came to me. It was the news of the Akatsuki approaching Konoha to pursue Naruto that brought me back here."

Kiiro looked off in the distance, his eyes misting over slightly.

"I had to protect my son...."

"Oh I am definitely ready to get this over and done with."

She cracked her knuckles and bit the end of her thumb, rubbing the blood down her arm.

"Take a step back kids." She said quietly.

She paused a moment, "Actually, my team come stand with me. You'll love this. Hold on. Kuchiyose no Jutsu!"

Tsunade smiled as the familiar feeling of Katsuyu beneath her. She turned to see the expression on the other's faces. Shizune seemed to be in less shock than the others, but she had seen Katsuyu before. Both Sakura and Daaku were visibly twitching....

*Moving to new thread when both Legendary Summons are out*

Kiiro glances at his own team, smiling. He can see the awe on the faces of Rin and Obito, as they've never seen a giant summon like Katsuyu before. Kakashi, however, almost looks like he's yawning.

"Okay, you three, come over and stand with me. I haven't used this jutsu in a long time, so hopefully Gamabunta-oyabun will still accept me as his suboordinate..."

Kiiro bites his thumb, and sticks it against the summon tattoo in the palm of his opposite hand. He then slams the hand with the summon tattoo against the ground, calling out his long unused jutsu.

"Kuchiyose no Jutsu!"

((Cue up the song "Bunta" from Naruto OST 3 ^_^))

Kiiro smiles, as the familiar bumpy texture of Gamabunta's skin takes shape underneath him and his team. He can smell the old smell of the Frog Boss' pipe, and feel the warmth of the fires that constantly burn in his belly.

"It's good to see you, Gamabunta-oyabun! Remember me?"
The Frog Boss stifles a yawn. He can tell that he's been summoned, as he's no longer in his marsh, but at first....he can't tell who it is.

"Who's up there....Jiraiya?"

He thinks for a moment, wondering who could have the kind of chakra needed to summon him so easily, then it dawns on him...

"Kiiro-kun, is that you up there? Who's that with you?"

The frog takes a puff on his pipe, and looks up as high as he can, trying to identify the strange shinobi occupying his forehead.
The clouds of smoke parted revealing a giant blue and white striped slug where Tsunade and company had previously been standing. The Hokage and her team were found perched on its massive head.

"Hello Tsunade-sama, Gamabunta-sama, and Kiiro-sama. Who are all these others, and what are we doing? Is it dangerous?"

The worry was apparent in the slug's voice.

"You worry about as much as Shizune does, Katsuyu. We'll be fine." Tsunade tried to reassure the Legendary creature.

"I know Tsunade-sama. But who are these others with you. I know Shizune-san." The slug's eyestalks rotated around to stare at Sakura and Daaku.

"This pink-headed one must be your newest apprentice. You've been telling me about her. And who is this one?"

Shizune opened her eyes realizing that several moments must have past. She could see the final traces of summoning smoke and the expressions of her new 'team'.

"Konnichiwa Katsuyu-dono," Shizune bowed respectfully to the nearest eyestalk to mask her slight shock. I had almost forgotten how strange it feels to be standing on a summoning's head. Or how odd it is to see anyone other than Jiraiya-sama on Gamabunta-sama.
I..am on a giant toad, aren't I?

Rin, who's arms were folded and set in her best I-see-this-every-day sort of position, glanced over at her teammates. Obito looked as surprised as she felt, Kiiro looked excited, and Kakashi just looked plain bored.

"So we're finally off." she chuckled, thinking about Obito's previous comment a few seconds earlier.
Kiiro smiled at Rin, and shouted down to his -Oyabun.

"These three are my team from years ago! It's Kawahara Rin, Uchiha Obito, and Hatake Kakashi! We need your help in a fight against the Akatsuki, they've got a Konoha-nin in their custody, and we're going to rescue her, and if possible, apprehend the Akatsuki members in question!!!"

Kiiro edged his way down the FrogFather's giant forehead, until he was level with his eyes.

"Will you help us, Gamabunta-oyabun?"
The Frog King crosses his eyes as much as he dares to get a look at his suboordinate. He looks much the same, if a bit older. This pleased Gamabunta, as Kiiro had been his most worthy suboordinate. He smiles in spite of himself, and speaks, careful not to dislodge the former Hokage resting on his nose.

"The Akatsuki, eh? I've had my dealings with them, thanks to that despicable one, Orochimaru. Just tell me what the plan is, as I'm sure that your group here isn't so hidden anymore, with myself and Katsuyu out..."

Gamabunta looks up, and sees Katsuyu, with Tsunade, and her own team on shinobi riding atop. Kiiro and Tsunade must have thought this was going to be a hard battle, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered with both of them.

"Katsuyu, are you ready for a battle?"

((TAG's Katsuyu and Tsunade!))
He was only shocked for a couple of seconds, forgetting for a moment that Sensei could summon frogs. Once that settled into his brain he was fine, and actually became quiet while the team rode on the back of the giant frog.

Keeping his distance from his team mates, Obito looked out at the panoramic view of konoha, sighing inwardly.

(ack, Dunno, lol)
Daaku is familiar with Kuchiyose no Justu, as it's a jutsu that he performs at least 5 times in any given day, but given who his leader is, he's got no idea what to expect. He feels the ground begin to lift up underneathe him, and he struggles to steady himself as he gets lifted up with his companions. He looks down, and what he's looking at doesn't look like ground anymore....

"Oh my god...are we standing on a giant slug?"

Daaku has to steady himself, as he almost faints from the thought of a summon that big. Not even his own grand summon, Ousama no Karasa, can match what he's now standing on. He looks at Tsunade with an admiration that he hadn't had before. Sure, she ws tough, but he had no idea of the real strength she possessed.
The eyestalk closest to Daaku inspected him closer.

"Yes I am a giant slug, sir. My name is Katsuyu. I am pleased to make your acquaintance. I would bow, but you'd probably fall off."
Daaku started when Katsuyu started talking to him, but then relaxed as she introduced herself. He bolstered up his courage, remembering what his own grand summon, Ousama no Karasa had once told him;

"When in doubt, if confronted by a Kuchiyose no Jutsu bigger than myself, remember this; They are very old, being the first of their kind, and as such, do not demand, but expect your respect..."

Daaku had heeded those words that day, but never thought he'd be confronted with a situation where they'd come into use. He bowed shakily, and introduced himself.

"I am Daaku, of the clan Akema, famed Karasu summoners from the Hidden Village of Rain. I am very pleased to meet you, Katsuyu-dono."

Daaku smiled, wondering what Sakura-chan thought of all this.

((TAG's Sakura-chan!))
Sakura was stiff as a board beside him. Not quite willing to edge down into a sitting position for fear of looking lazy, or worse, falling off in the process; and not quite comfortable standing upright for fear of falling off in that manner, Sakura was attempting not to look down.

Somehow, the Sannin's summons looked a lot smaller in my old picture books.

Sakura took a quick peek down and quickly snapped her head into it's upright position again.

Make that microscopic. @_@;;
((New thread guys, I'm getting kind of lost here. ;p)
